About This Home
8574 Mountainview Ave is a spacious brick-front ranch built in 1978, set on about 0.475 acre in the Piedmont Heights neighborhood of Marshall, in lower-taxed Fauquier County. There's no HOA. You're just minutes from I-66: from Marshall, Gainesville is about 15 miles away, Dulles Airport about 36 miles and Washington, DC about 50 miles. You get more room than in Fairfax or Prince William, without going as far out as Front Royal.
Everything is on one level, and the rooms are big. A covered front porch opens into a tiled foyer and a large, bright living room. The family room is built around a full brick fireplace wall. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, including a French-door refrigerator, plus plenty of wood cabinetry, and a separate dining room with chair rail sits alongside it. Ceiling fans run throughout the house.
There are three bedrooms and two baths. The primary suite has a walk-in closet and a private bath. An oversized laundry and utility room with its own exterior door gives you room for a mudroom, a hobby space or extra storage.
Outside, a large rear deck looks over a big backyard with mature trees. A 2-car garage and a paved driveway give you plenty of parking. The home is on a public road, so there's no road maintenance agreement. Historic Main Street Marshall, everyday shopping, nearby wineries and Sky Meadows State Park are all close by.
Room sizes are approximate, from the Matterport floor plan.

Layout

Marshall is a historic village in northern Fauquier County, set along Main Street (Route 55) between two I-66 interchanges and surrounded by farms and the gently rolling countryside of Virginia's northern Piedmont. Its historic Main Street is lined with locally owned shops and restaurants, and Warrenton, Front Royal and Northern Virginia are all an easy drive away.
Marshall sits between I-66 Exit 27 (Route 55 to Main Street) and Exit 28 (U.S. 17 south toward Warrenton). Gainesville is about 15 miles east, Washington Dulles International Airport about 36 miles, and Washington, D.C. about 50 miles.

Main Street is home to local favorites like Red Truck Bakery, known for its Southern-style cakes, pies and coffee, and Field & Main, a farm-to-table restaurant in a historic building roughly 200 years old. The Whole Ox is a full-service local butcher shop, and Vintage offers antiques, art and wine to browse.

The Virginia General Assembly established the town as Salem in 1796. It was renamed Marshall in 1881, honoring Chief Justice John Marshall, who owned a home nearby. On April 21, 1865, Col. John S. Mosby disbanded his famed Rangers here. The Marshall Historic District is listed on the Virginia Landmarks Register (2006) and the National Register of Historic Places (2007).
Barrel Oak Winery is about 4 miles from Main Street, and Linden Vineyards is about 16 miles west. This is horse country, home ground of the Orange County Hunt, based in nearby The Plains since 1903.
Sky Meadows State Park is about 12 miles north, on the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The 1,860-acre park offers 22 miles of hiking trails, bridle and bike trails, about 3 miles of the Appalachian Trail, and is an International Dark Sky Park with monthly astronomy programs.
Drive times are approximate and vary with traffic.
